One of the top 5 global law firms is currently seeking a Datacenter and Network Manager (GSS Infrastructure) to design, build and operation of shared IT infrastructure services including all shared and common Datacentre, Networks and End User Computing (EUC) services, policies and standards. The function works closely with Global CTO and CISO and regional IT to develop and manage the shared Infrastructure service portfolio and global common Infrastructure standards, policies, tools and practices.

The shared DC&N Manager reports to the Head of GSS Infrastructure and is responsible for leading the development and operation of globally shared DC&N service portfolio. This includes all shared & common DC&N elements (e.g. assets, suppliers, policies, controls and processes) across a technology domain including captive and outsourced, physical and virtual data-center, server, storage and network services. This is a global role operating across a matrixed and multi-sourced globally-dispersed organization. The role will ensure services are designed and built to be efficiently operated ‘always-on’ allowing for out of hours working including International travel as required.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure the effective and efficient operation of all shared DC&N services, owning the service specific operating models and capabilities and integration with wider global and regional service delivery
Lead and manage a globally dispersed and matrixed managed delivery capability working closely with global infrastructure service manager to manage key offshore suppliers
Develop the internal market for shared DC&N services; work with global and regional teams to drive the development of business cases for new and expanded scope to e.g. reduce cost and risk and improve business integration.
Work alongside global CTO, projects, service design and transition to drive key DC&N service transformation initiatives e.g. dc modernisation, cloud adoption, SD networking etc
Work closely with CISO function to ensure and allow the transparent assurance of the optimised security profile for the shared DC&N service including support of security transformation initiatives
Build and leverage strategic relationships with 3rd party suppliers ensuring a leading understanding of DC&N technology and service opportunities
Work closely with service consumers including GPMS, CMI to own and manage infrastructure capacity and demand and the asset maintenance and refresh plan and budget
Develop and maintain a strong understanding of EUC technologies, services and capabilities deployed within the firm
Work alongside global ITSM to Ensure global EUC services meet their SLA targets and the expectations of the business
Provide a level of technical expertise and consultation at various management levels across the organisation
Skills and Experience Required:

Extensive experience of transforming and managing global DCN technologies and services including migrations to public and private cloud based services (eg AWS, Azure); adoption of SD network services (eg SD WAN, cloud based security)
Strong planning, communications, and stakeholder management experience
Able to demonstrate the ability to build and leverage strong relationships with 3rd parties
Proven experience of managing outsourced IT supplier performance
Budgetary experience coupled with demonstrable commercial awareness
Experience of large scale infrastructure change, business change, integration or merger an advantage
In depth technical knowledge of all aspects of infrastructure engineering including: Wintel/Linux servers; backup/storage technologies; converged systems; network ecosystems; enterprise security
Competencies:

Demonstrable ability to build trust and strong cross-functional relationships at all levels across a global organisation to achieve common goals
Ability to mobilise, manage, and motivate a globally distributed multi-sourced team within an organisation that is experiencing consistent growth and change
Strategic acumen and problem solving skills with the ability to turn findings into executable plans
