The MWEB Product, Sales and Marketing division currently has a vacancy for a Field Sales Representative who will be reporting to the Field Sales Manager. Field Sales Representatives will be responsible for acquiring new customers through direct marketing channels selling MWEB’S Fibre to the Home (FTTH) and ADSL products.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Achieve set monthly sales targets via a combination of activity that drives acquisition of new customers and upselling of existing customers that converts leads to sign up
• Achieve these targets through a combination of direct customer engagement in their homes and via outbound sales calling to convert leads to sign up
• Convert leads given AND generate own leads
• Manage leads, using MWEB systems available and own ways of working to drive conversion to sign up over time
• Plan and execute strong sales management techniques to continually achieve required targets (pipeline management)
• Provide excellent and always up to date product knowledge and guide customers in their product choice across ALL of MWEB’s products with the objective to deliver the best customer focused solution
• Ensure that customers understand the value proposition, features, benefits, competitive advantages and applications of the product
• Ensure clarity of understanding as to the deals and T&C’s of any promotional deals
• Own communication with the customer within the sales conversion process. This may include completing quotations, sending emails with quotes or providing additional information, educational content or answering any questions within the sign up journey
• Complete the admin associated with converting leads to sign up within the prescribed times including
- Coverage checks
- Completion of applications including submission of relevant documents
- Complete all FSA processes including
- Travel processes
- Overtime claim processes
- Day to day systems that track appointments
- Shared calendars
- Email responses
- Leads tracker
• Adhere and direct customers to the relevant escalation teams once sign up is completed.
• Attend and represent MWEB at infrastructure provider activations and other as directed by the Field Sales Manager
• Build relationships with infrastructure installers in the area and use these relationships to aid in customer sign ups
• Fully understand and fully utilise sales tools , specifically Honeybee, but also including all tools as directed by the Field Sales Manager

• High attention to detail and high levels of accuracy specifically related to products and pricing
• Must be able to work in a fast pace environment, multi task, and have good communication skills, both face to face, over the phone and in writing
• Skills in problem solving – demonstrate the ability to identify and appropriately evaluate customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions
• Ability to operate independently and within a team
• Ability to plan, organise and multi-task to complete assignments in an efficient manner to achieve targets
• Ability to work hours outside of the normal 08h00 – 17h00 including weekends
• Strong understanding and interest in connectivity
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as computer lierate. Familiarity with CRM and ERP software desired
Qualifications and experience required
• Must hold a valid driver’s licence AND have own reliable transport essential
• Minimum of 1 year’s experience in direct to customer sales, preferably face to face AND telephonic essential
• Must be able to demonstrate previous sales experience AND own approaches to managing pipeline essential
• Experience in the telecommunications industry (like cellular) advantageous
• Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in English as primary language essential
• Ability to also read, write and verbally communicate in Afrikaans will be advantageous
• High level of interest in connectivity/ online/ tech advantageous
• Matric certificate essential
