Duties & Responsibilities
The Plant Breeder will be tasked with developing varieties for local and international markets with a strong emphasis is placed on performance, agronomics and quality. The role will involve parent line and hybrid development whilst optimizing the use and integration of new technologies with conventional breeding techniques to improve the efficiency and productivity of the breeding programme. The breeder will be involved in all aspects of the breeding programme, working closely with the sales and marketing team, overseeing other employees in the programme and handling all related administration (record keeping, budgets, operational plans etc.)

Desired Experience & Qualification
Requirements:



A BScHons or MSc degree specializing in plant breeding or genetics;
At least 5 years of experience as a plant breeder;
Proven knowledge of plant physiology, molecular genetics, horticulture and agronomy;
Good management ability and people skill;
Exposure to budget development and implementation along with experience in record-keeping and breeding programme administration.
