Construction Buyer
Blackheath
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Performance Areas
Post-tender buying/pricing.
Liaise with sites and network with suppliers.
Pre-tender Pricing.
Secure best material prices for tender purposes.
Maintain supplier database.
Administration of tender information.
Analyze trends within the market and investigate alternative sources of supply.
Investigate new products.
Render support to construction sites with the pricing of materials.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements:
Relevant Construction related tertiary qualification (i.e. National Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Purchasing/Buying qualification).
8 - 10 years in the construction industry.
Knowledge of construction materials, products and systems.
Knowledge of suppliers and manufacturers in the construction industry.
Extensive construction buying experience.
Ability to build good relations and negotiate with suppliers.
Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team.
Ability to meet tender deadlines and work under pressure.
Flexibility in terms of working hours.
Ability to speak, read and write in English.
Valid driver’s license.
Computer literacy (advanced).
