Assist the infant-toddler teacher, who is responsible for the growth, development and overall well-being of children in an infant-toddler class with all their duties.
Responsibilities
Assume caring and educational responsibilities for children while at school, including nappy-changing and feeding.
Promote feelings of security and trust in children through maintaining a safe and caring environment.
Become familiar with each child's schedule, and be comfortable with multiple infant feeding and sleeping routines.
Assist the infant-toddler teacher to use the HighScope approach to plan activities which stimulate and engage children at the developmentally appropriate level.
Manage all stock of resources and equipment in the classroom.
Manage the setup of the classroom between different activities during the day.
Work positively and collaboratively with other staff members, including to plan activities for the classes as a team.
Participate in regular professional development sessions with colleagues.
Reflect on their work regularly, leading their personal growth strategy.
Other responsibilities as necessary.
Note: this is a physically challenging role and requires the assistant teacher to stand for large portions of the day, carry babies and toddlers, bend, run, sit on the floor, participate in playground activities, and generally play with the children.

Qualifications
Studying towards a relevant Early Childhood Development qualification would be an advantage
Nursing or First Aid would be an advantage
Clear criminal record
Experience
2 years experience working with infants in a caregiving or similar role
