To manage the MFC Raw Materials Systems and to continuously improve current practices, methods, and processes in order to exceed current Logistics targets and reduce costs to the company.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY
Identify and assess level of issue based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
Manage SHEQ compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox
Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
Ensure the OHASA safety and health standards are maintained
Adhere to all related SOP’s, PTO’s and CTO’s as per Training Matrix per position, SHEQ and company standards
PEOPLE
Manage and provide leadership to subordinates
Ensure an enabling climate/culture
Manage own performance against set targets and competencies
Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan
CUSTOMERS
Internal Customers:
Ensure Customer Satisfaction
Resolve Customer Complaints
Develop and maintain relationships with Internal customers and relevant plant departments (Furnaces, Finance, Transport, Rail Services, Group Procurement Services, Transnet)
Raw Material Suppliers:
Develop and maintain relationships with critical suppliers
Develop and maintain relationship with transporters and Transnet
BUSINESS PROCESSES
Ensure IMS KPI’s are managed on quality and quantity
5S management
Ensure that SOP’s are relevant according to practices
Overseeing of operational management of raw materials teams
Overseeing on Logistics Coordinator position tasks
Follow up with mines and transporters when there is deviations from delivery plan
Physically check raw materials stock levels and calculate and reconcile with theoretical stock
Maintain raw material reporting systems (Excel, MES and SAP) and distribute as and when needed
Interpret Furnace and Pelletizer requirements and forecast the 12-Month Raw Material Plan
Place Raw Material Orders based on stock levels and consumptions
Manage Raw Material Accounting in terms of consumption figures and stock levels
Balance MES and SAP for receipts, consumption and stocks on a weekly basis
Investigate and solve stock shortages
Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives especially simplifying of reporting on MES and Excel
Drive RCFA/Proactive SIR’s in sections
Liaise between the Group Procurement Services, Smelters, Pelletizer, Mines, Internal and External Transporters
Arrange transport where required
Manage Raw Material non-conformances
Raw Material Supplier contract management
Oversee of surveys and processing of survey results
Execute Raw Materials month end processes efficiently and on time
Attendance of all key Raw Materials meetings (Weekly Raw Materials meetings, Reductants meetings, Ores meeting, MES meeting, TFR)
TFR weekly telecoms
Compile and implement SLA’s with internal customers
Participate in Logistics senior standby
Act in a higher level as and when required

Initiate and implement the integration of improvement projects

Transporter rate management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Degree or National Diploma
Metallurgical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering qualification with strong accounting and logistics acumen OR Accounting/Logistics qualification with strong metallurgical acumen
4 years’ relevant experience
Computer Literacy (Advanced Excel, MES)
Driver’s License (minimum Code 8/B)
Advantageous:
Logistics experience in a heavy industrial/ Ferrochrome environment
Knowledge of Raw materials in a Smelter environment
