QUALIFICATIONS:
N Dip: Mine Surveying (Essential/Minimum or)
N Dip: Mining Engineering (Essential/Minimum)
BEng Mining Engineering (Recommended/Desirable)
Certificate First Line Management (Recommended/Desirable)
EXPERIENCE:
3-5 years Relevant experience in Mine planning in Surface and Underground Mines in Surveying techniques and Electronic surveying instruments
Importance : Essential/Minimum
Involvement : Operational
REQUIREMENTS:
Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum)
Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum)
Engineering Council of SA (Recommended/Desirable)
Competence: Discipline Specific Program (Recommended/Desirable)
POSITION OUTPUTS:
The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:
Best Practice and Knowledge Management
Research best practice within industry and provide relevant
recommendations
Ensure state of the art techniques and software are used at Business
Units (BU) (XPAC, Minex, ArcGIS, MicroStation and Model maker)
Advise, coordinate and monitor to optimize BU's rehabilitation plans
Develop and compile reports for BU's and the Group
Compliance, Governance and Assurance
Application of controls to ensure legal compliance
Conduct assurance reviews and provide feedback
Implement and support quality management systems for the planning
Process
Functional Excellence
Adhere to functional policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, end-to-end processes, tools, templates etc.
Assist in standardising, simplifying and speeding-up functional
processes, eliminating duplication/bureaucracy
Apply functional best practices, promote sharing of best
practices/knowledge
Mine Planning
Control and audit applicable mine plans and schedules aligned with
Life of Mine (LOM) mine objectives
Assist in compilation of Reserves to South African Code for the
reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves
(SAMREC) prescriptive
Apply mine planning standards to include Geology, Surveying and Rock
Engineering inputs
Audit specific Reserve depletion
Implement rules and controls for short-term planning
Responsible for planning processes and sensitivity studies
Review planning standards vs. actual performance parameters for BU
(position, tonnages and yields)
Scheduling on various time and geographical scales from short, medium to long term plans
Responsible for statistical data pertaining to the compliance to plan
for each BU
Standardize data input and ensure data captured accurately
Ensure effective distribution of information and production reporting
Planning Optimization and Support
Integrate and assess mine plans and present best value plans for
approval in line with strategy
Compile and schedule brown fields expansion plans for concept options
Liaise to ensure that mine plans and schedules are updated and
suggest alternatives as required by market / production changes
Compile and schedule mine planning at BU
Implement as approved, changes in mine planning technologies
Project Management
Drive improvement projects at Mineral Resources Management (MRM) and Mining departments
Support optimisation of mine schedule and design
Investigate aspects of feasibility studies on new mining projects
Conduct production forecasting, mine planning optimisation and support
Conduct simulation projects
Risk Management and Control
Recognize, understand and take action to manage risks that can impact
on the mine plan
Implementation of risk management systems for mine planning
Safe and Healthy Work Environment
Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations and
practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable Safety Health and
Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures in line with set standards
Encourage a culture that focuses on safety in all operations
