Position: Trainee Painting Workshop Supervisor

Position purpose:

Execute workshop production of refurbished furniture under supervision, so that it meets customer specific requirements, within the required deadline.

Description of duties:

Complete the opening duties.
Participate in the daily and weekly production meetings to discuss the production plan and order requirements.
Safely offload and load furniture from vehicles, as and when required.
Prepare for the refurbishing process under supervision, which includes housekeeping, sanding, wax removal, dusting and vacuum, washing and rinsing, masking mirrors and glass, and removing mirrors and glass where required.
Execute assigned refurbishing activities under supervision, which will include amongst others, brush coatings to specification, gilding, spray painting and the repeat of the preparation processes, as and when required.
Carry furniture to the desired location, when required in a safe manner, without damaging goods.
Replace and refit knobs, handles and hinges.
Ensure that any defects are immediately brought to the Manager’s attention.
Complete the required production sheet daily and submit weekly to Manager.
Complete closing duties.
Comply with company procedures.
Qualification and experience required:

A minimum of 6 to 12 months related experience within a similar furniture refurbishing workshop environment.
Decorative art or wood finishing or furniture marking other related diploma will be advantageous.
Basic and general painting experience
Supervisory ability - ability to supervise and coordinate work of from one up till around 5 painters, ensuring that housekeeping standards are maintained.
Knowledge and Technical Skills required to do the job:

Knowledge in terms of decorative art is advantageous.
Gilding and spray painting skills.
Language fluency in English and Afrikaans is essential.
