Introduction
* Relevant Food Science or Microbiology qualification with at three to five years’ laboratory experience. ISO 17025 training essential. Willing to work shifts and overtime. Valid driver’s license and own transport required. *


Location: Claremont, Cape Town



Description: A commercial laboratory is looking for an experienced Microbiologist to join their team. Key duties will include: Media preparation & sterilization. Plate counting. Ensuring laboratory equipment is clean and in good repair. Identification of micro-organisms. Disinfectant and Preservative Challenge testing. Collating of microbiology reports. Daily checks for environmental control procedures and temperature control in line with quality system. Assist with guidance and supervision of junior staff.



Key Requirements: Qualification in Food Science or Microbiology with three to five years’ hands-on laboratory experience. ISO 17025 training essential. Experience in a SANAS accredited laboratory an advantage. Valid driver’s license and own transport essential.



Additional Requirements: Good team leader. Be accountable; responsible and able to take initiative. Good organisational skills and able to multitask. Shift work required (3 shifts: 08:00am - 16:30pm, 12:00pm - 20:00pm and 14:00pm - 22:00pm). Must be able to work on Saturdays as required and willing to work over time.



Remuneration: Dependent on experience.
